Sarah is Smitten with . . .

Eco Java in Greenwich.

This eco-conscious coffee shop is located in the Byram section of Greenwich, and is lovingly tended to by Dana, owner & queen of delicious caffeinated goodness. The espresso she uses is imported, organic & delicious!! The scrumptious caffeinated creations are served in biodegradable cups...how cool is that? While you are there, don't forget to pick up a bar of the espresso bean chocolate...it equals happiness.  While you're in the neighborhood, you might as well pop over to The Side Door, which is conveniently directly across the street, and shop their summer jewelry selection while you're sipping on your earth-friendly beverage . . .

Royally Delicious

Any Royal Wedding followers out there?!
In an attempt to feel a bit more upper-crusty while soaking up the sights and sounds of the upcoming blue blooded English nuptual extravaganza, I will be using culinary props.  A spot of Earl Grey tea and some delicious little tea sandwiches will definitely help set the mood.  I can't wait to see Kate Middleton's dress, hair and makeup . . .and I especially can't wait to nosh on these tasty little british-style tea time treats:

Cucumber Mint Tea Sandwiches

  • 1/4 cup loosely packed fresh mint leaves, rinsed, spun dry, and chopped fine
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese
  • 6 slices of whole-wheat bread
  • a 3-inch length of seedless cucumber, cut into thin slices
In a small bowl combine the mint, the butter, and the cream cheese and stir the mixture until it is combined well. Spread the bread slices with the butter mixture, top 3 of them with the cucumber, distributing the cucumber evenly and seasoning it with salt, and top the cucumber with the remaining bread slices. Cut off and discard the crusts and cut each sandwich diagonally into quarters. Brilliant!!

Lippy, lovely and . . .free.

I've recently re-kindled my love of home-made beauty products. Mixing up beautifying concoctions in the kitchen was a favorite pastime for my sisters and I, so this really brings me back to the good ol' days of oatmeal on the face and egg yolks in the hair.  Here is one of my favorite beauty recipes:

Salt & Sugar Lip Scrub
Mix salt, white sugar and vaseline.
Apply the mixture to your lips, and use gentle, circular motions to gently remove dead skin cells.
Rinse the mixture off completely with warm water and a washcloth.
Apply your favorite lip moisturizer.
Go smooch your (dog/husband/kid) with your new smooth, plump, moisturized kisser!

Enjoy!

Sarah is Smitten with . . .

As a makeup artist/aesthetician/lover of all things in bottles with pretty labels . . .it's just impossible for me NOT to share my newest thrill.  Although my "want, need, or have to have it" list is typically the most current cosmetics and skincare, I constantly find myself smitten with other obsessions such as a recently discovered shop . . .restaurant . . .song. . .and I just can't help myself!! If I love it, I want to share it.  And really, isn't sharing half the fun of loving something?!

Currently, Sarah is Smitten with . . .

Today and everyday I am smitten with Daniel. Fiance, best friend, and biggest fan.  I think his picture is above the word "Genuine" in the dictonary, and if it isn't, it should be.  My Danny-boy.

Tom Catmull and the Clerics.  AH-mazing band from Missoula, Montana.  A little country, a little rock . . .what can I say? I have country roots and this music absolutley reminds me of home!

Boscia Black Luminizing Mask.  I would classify this as a Biore strip for your entire face.  If you haven't tried this, please run, don't walk, to your nearest beauty supplier and buy it. Use it. LOVE IT.  Truly brilliant.
